Time Out says

Step back in time with this living history museum, which allows visitors to experience Southern California life during the Victorian Era. Heritage Square is a collection of eight structures, including a railroad station from Century City, a church from Pasadena, and a variety of formerly private residences from across the city—each of which were constructed during the mid-to-late 1800s. All of them were saved from demolition, lifted off their foundations and trucked to this central spot where some have been restored and others are still in process. A real treat is the guided tour led by a well-taught (and sometimes hilarious) staff member dressed in period costume.

What’s on

Magic Market

Magic Market is bringing all things fae and witchy to Heritage Square, including tarot, palm and lip readings, a pet psychic, aura photography, a scavenger hunt and, of course, tours of the museum’s handsome old homes. Don your witchy, whimsical best and spread out a blanket for a vegan picnic, or shop metaphysical and occult wares, crystals and vintage clothes from 75 vendors at a curated marketplace. Springing for a witch’s pass will get you a Magic Market tote bag, sound bath session and exclusive Octagon house tour.

Boo-ze, Bites & Frights

Like a Halloween version of its Yuletide Cinemaland series, Street Food Cinema will turn Heritage Square Museum into a spooky, cinematic playground—and yes, we’re well aware we’re months from Halloween still. But Boo-ze, Bites & Frights returns in May with this “Half-o-ween” celebration, which pairs screenings of The Craft and Final Destination with carnival games, home tours and a handful of bars.
