11/13/19 UPDATE: Fizz Fight has been rescheduled to spring 2020 "due to several extenuating circumstances." We'll keep you posted on the selzter fest's new date.
Let they among us who have not ridden the White Claw wave be the first to cast stones against this extremely topical, off-the-walls festival: Fizz Fight, the country's first hard-seltzer celebration and competition, is headed to Los Angeles.
The bubbly 21+ event launched in Denver with unlimited samples of hard seltzer, and after the people drank their way through White Claw, Truly and other new carbonation kings, the people—and judges—crowned the winners: New Jersey's Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing and Tennessee's High Noon Sun Sips, among them, and they had some stiff competition. In L.A., we're betting the fighters will be just as fierce.
The second stop on the Fizz Fight tour, L.A.'s November 16 shindig will host more than 40 hard-seltzer brands from across the U.S., slinging more than 100 varieties (who even knew there were more than 100 varieties?) of the gussied-up malt beverage. Some will be distilled, some will be brewed, some will be flavored like citrus, and others, like berry.
We can also expect baby goats on our tour stop—sure, why not?—plus art exhibits, food trucks and, if Denver is any indication, maybe even a ball pit. Fizz Fight will set up in Los Angeles for one day, with two three-hour sessions of tastings that run around $30 for general admission, with an extra half hour for VIP ticketholders ($50).
In the meantime, you can prep your mind and body with a glimpse of the Denver kickoff event:
