Believe it or not, body painting did not start with Sports Illustrated swim suit models. Come hear National Geographic photographers Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher discuss "Body Painting of Africa: Secret Messages and Hidden Meanings." The duo are African specialists and have been working together for 35 years, exploring more than 150 African cultures in 40 countries, over 270,000 square miles. They've written 15 books together, with their latest, Painted Bodies: African Body Painting, Tattoos, and Scarification, exploring how body painting is used to establish identity and attract the opposite sex, which, surprisingly, is not done by airbrushing on a bikini.
The event is free, but advance tickets are recommended and available by emailing amanda@c4global.com.
