As Thanksgiving and Christmas approaches, the topic of gluttony comes into full force—not so much the dangers of it, but the nature and tradition of eating and drinking in excess during the holidays. Zócalo Public Square introduces "Can Gluttony Be a Virtue," a free lecture moderated by KCRW's Evan Kleiman and held at the Redondo Beach Historic Library (309 Esplanade, Redondo Beach). Author of Gluttony Francine Prose, UCLA medieval historian Teo Ruiz, and chef Eric Greenspan will discuss the role feasting plays in modern society, along with the social and psychologial outlets that food and drink offers us.
