Ayad Akhtar’s play Disgraced is a hilarious tale of big-city aspiration and cultural assimilation, focusing on a dinner party between four people with strikingly different backgrounds. It touches on anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, as well as two men from different cultures behaving badly. The play won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for best drama and has also won the 2012 Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work–Play or Musical and a 2013 Obie Award for Playwriting. It is Akhtar's first play and was first seen in Chicago, though it was one ot the most produced shows in the country in 2015.
