Storeowner Jill Bernheimer has cultivated a dynamic selection of boutique and natural wine selections—with a fierce offering of sparkling “pét-nat” (pétillant naturel) wines which vary from bottle to bottle in effervescence and pronounced flavors and aromas, providing a truly unique tasting experience each time you pop one open. After 5pm on Fridays, wines are open for casual tastings ($5), but Sunday is the day to go, when a more organized event lasts from 2-5pm. The fee ranges from $10 to $20 depending on the caliber of wines opened, how many are offered and if there’s a food-pairing component (generally cheese and crackers are offered, but sometimes food trucks are parked outside for à la carte snacking—on other occasions, they’ll invite a local chef/restaurant to create pairings). The atmosphere on Sunday is laid back and social, so bring friends and hang or pick up your favorite bottle before heading to a party (for bottles, the tasting fee is not waived but bottles are offered at discounted prices the day of the tasting). No reservations required.
