When Curtis Stone temporarily closed his Michelin-starred restaurant during lockdown, he brought us a little taste of his upbringing: pies upon pies upon pies. Now, one of Stone’s best L.A. concepts is the Pie Room: a casual takeout shop and bakery operated out of Gwen (and soon, Beverly Hills) where savory pies, croissants, pastries and sandwiches are all on offer from the Aussie chef and his talented pastry team. Not only do the pies come in Australian and U.K. classics—such as shepherd's pie and beef-and-ale pie—there are newbies, too, like the hot-pot–inspired curried lamb pie, and a luscious oxtail pie with braised beef cheek. Don't forget to grab a bottle of the house condiments; we're partial to the onion-and-date chutney and also the piccalilli.
