Grand Central Market seems to have just about everything now—BBQ, homemade pasta, a vermouth bar—and now there's a full-on oyster and wine bar. The stand next to G&B Coffee looks like something that belongs on a Fijian island, a circular hut where patrons can order oysters, ceviche, shrimp cocktails and seaweed salad. First timers would be wise to opt for the chef's choice—six oysters for $18—which arrives with a variety of oysters, vinegar, lemon and cocktail sauce. Cross your fingers for a couple of creamy Fanny Bays from British Columbia or bright Sol Azul oysters from Mexico. To drink, Oyster Gourmet has a stellar wine list, made up of primarily white wine with a red and rosé thrown in for good measure.
