Part bottle shop, part deli, The Heights is a place for both beer snobs and sandwich lovers, evident fron the near-perflect split in setup down the shop's middle. To the left, rows of glass cases holding bottles of beer both local and global are divided into categories (Pale ale! IPA! Porter!); to the right, a deli case displays Boar's Head meat and cheeses, which become the fixings for one of almost 20 sandwiches on The Heights' menu. Some are named after nearby streets, like the vegetarian Lacy St (mozzarella, artichokes, roasted pepper and sundried tomatoes) or the Mission St (buffalo chicken, bacon, provolone, avocado and house sauce). Not feeling like a sandwich? There's pizza and pasta here, too. Order your food, grab a bottle of Smog City or Ballast Point beer and, if you're lucky, snag one of the few stools outside that looks out onto Broadway.
