Chef April Bloomfield and partner Ken Friedman expanded their NYC restaurant empire with the Hearth and Hound, a spacious setting, a moody patio and wood-fired-oven and an open kitchen churning out dishes such as rib-eye steak for two; pork with quince and verjus; charred chicories with citrus and fromage blanc; and crushed potatoes with Swiss chard and crème fraîche. The Beastie Boys' own Mike D oversees the wine list, which is managed by a separate wine director, Maxfield Schnee. (Sorry, no, Mike D won't be pouring your selections. But don't let that stop you from stopping by.)
