One of L.A.'s hottest restaurants now has a relaxed, more carefree younger sibling next door. Featuring equally stylish ambience, albeit with a breezier feel, the Garden at Horses offers a mostly original menu of wood-fired pizzettes and shareable small plates, including a delicious caper-flecked amberjack crudo draped in brown butter. Lead chefs Liz Johnson and Will Aghajanian’s lighter approach to cooking extends to the spritz-heavy drinks menu. No small detail is spared, from the beautiful peppercorn tree that towers over the parking lot patio to pastry chef Hanna Grubba’s striking, must-order black tiramisu. Though this plein air counterpart lacks the high-energy buzz of the original Horses, we’d gladly choose the Garden for a relaxed—but still chic—dinner out in Hollywood.
