Walk into this beloved Los Feliz institution and you’ll probably feel like you‘ve stepped back in time: Oversized white leather booths and a midcentury menu of steaks, seafood and pasta, plus a bar and lounge famous for its live music acts—most notably the late Marty Roberts and his wife and duet partner, Elayne. In the dining room, we’d steer you towards classic dishes like prime rib and lasagna, but recommend skipping the escargots and trout amandine; the Dresden has been around in some form since 1954, and the kitchen has been resting on its laurels and the restaurant’s reputation for likely half that time.
