The success of chef Craig Thornton's Wolvesmouth is still going strong, but even successful restaurants—pop-up or otherwise—need to switch it up sometimes. To add a new component to his craft, Thornton created Sharksteeth, a pop-up dinner that focuses on seafood. Held a few weekends each month in Thornton's Silver Lake home, the six-course, BYOB meal is shared at a communal table with other adventurous eaters. In the Wolvesmouth style, menus are changed frequently, but you may find yourself diving into seared octopus with fried sopes, crab cake salad, or halibut in a sea of corn chowder. Since a ticket to Sharksteeth (around $95) can be purchased online—as opposed to Wolvesmouth's lottery system—there is not the same magical buzz you feel at a Wolvesmouth dinner; diners tend to be a little more reserved. But the food is still outstanding, and the experience of eating Thornton's food in such an intimate, yet relaxed, setting is bound to be a memorable one.
