Wood-fired Colombian cuisine is the name of the game at this new casual Long Beach spot, where chef Carlos Jurado is luring SoCal’s Colombian community and neighborhood locals alike with skewers of smoky beef anticucho and mojicones (milk buns topped with caramelized onions). Other must-try broadly South American-inspired small plates and family-style mains include the arroz chaufa, pork belly chicharron and the sofrito-topped catch of the day—best paired with the arepas. Plants, bright wall decor and locally made art by Cassandra Rowden make Selva’s two adjacent dining and bar areas feel quite cozy and welcoming, but you’re really here for the restaurant’s excellent cuisine.
