Just two and a half blocks shy of the Hollywood border, this West Hollywood restaurant/bar/café feels like the sexy younger cousin to Dan Tana’s. The main room is straight out of Scorsese’s Goodfellas, while the café hearkens back to a family restaurant you would find in Rome’s Campo de' Fiori. The dim lighting that will conceal any blemish and cozy, rounded booths make it the perfect date spot. If the conversation gets dry, you can always play the classic LA game of guessing which TV show your bartender was on, or which model the hostess looks like. With the blinds always drawn and no windows to the rest of the establishment, the only way to check out this joint is to put your cool on and stride right in.
Vitals
Good for: Late night dinner and drinks after catching some stand-up at The Formosa Cafe across the street.
Drink this: With a cocktail menu full of the names of Rock n’ Roll legends like the Hendrix and Joan Jett, and unique blends of herbs and juices, any pick is a good choice. Don’t leave without trying the Groupie, a drink that would’ve blown the roof off your childhood lemonade stand.
Eat this: You can’t go wrong with their classic Margherita pizza. Be sure to shell out a few extra bucks to add some burrata cheese to it. It’s well worth it.
