While this no-frills Southeast Asian restaurant in the 626 offers a wide-ranging menu that spans Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine, it also happens to be one of the few spots in L.A. where you can find nasi lemak, widely known as Malaysia’s national dish. Built around a bowl-shaped mound of white rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaves, Borneo’s nasi lemak includes crispy pieces of fried chicken, a deep-fried boiled egg, cucumbers and vegetables, plus a side of sambal mixed with anchovies and peanuts.
