It seems to be the season of pop-ups right now in Los Angeles: Iconic NYC deli Katz’s is debuting a one-day only activation this weekend while a joint BTS/Despicable Me experience has set up just down the street.
Also on deck is a Chips Ahoy! Ice cream sandwich pop-up that’s kicking off at UCLA’s Bruin Plaza on June 29 before taking over Chicago and New York with similar programs.
On Saturday from noon to 4pm at 308 Westwood Plaza, Chips Ahoy! and Secret Media Network will present “Sweet Escapes,” where fans will get to indulge in city-inspired ice cream sandwiches served in a pop-up oasis-like environment that’s meant to “evoke your happiest summer memories,” according to an official press release.
The free ice cream sandwiches in L.A. will be made with Chips Ahoy! chunky cookies with oat milk vanilla ice cream (yes, the companies clearly know our collective go-to milk choice), chocolate chips and mango puree.
In addition to the pre-made sweet treats, which will be available until supplies last, guests will be able to work on their own ice cream creations and perhaps win a trip to a U.S. destination. To enter the contest, all you will need to do is snap a photo of your invention and upload it right here through September 1.
If you can’t make it to Bruin Plaza this weekend, worry not: The L.A.-specific ice cream sandwich will be available for delivery on Gopuff.
One more thing: We’re sure that the cold treat will be absolutely delicious, but if it’s something more traditional that you’re craving when it comes to desserts, check out our list of the best bakeries in L.A. as well as the best spots for ice cream. Each one of them always delivers something astoundingly delectable.
