We’ll start by saying that we’re not too fond of surveys that claim to have found the most popular eateries across the land. Mostly, that’s because the companies behind these much-cited studies tend to have not-too-reliable methodologies when it comes to landing on their rankings. That being said, any sort of news that confirms our belief that Los Angeles is home to some of the best brunch spots in the country deserves our attention.
Case in point: a new survey by online company Jackpot City Casino that identifies Malibu Farm as the most popular brunch spot in the United States.
To come up with its results, the company gathered a seed list of 124 popular brunch spots in the U.S. and then analyzed the number of Instagram posts tagged with each relevant hashtag for each eatery, ranking them from highest to lowest. Malibu Farm came out on top with 55,866 Instagram posts in total.
Well-known for “its breathtaking ocean views from Malibu Pier and its menu featuring organic produce,” as per an official press release regarding the study, Malibu Farm is actually two restaurants in one: a sit-down venture near the start of the pier and a more casual café towards the end of it.
The survey also looked at which U.S. states are the most “brunch obsessed” by analyzing the number of Google searches for the meal in each state. In that specific ranking, California came in third place after Texas and New York, which topped the list.
