Dance among dinosaurs during First Fridays at the Natural History Museum. Tonight’s highlights include a behind-the-scenes history tour, a discussion about the 2028 Olympics and live music from Mondo Cozmo.
Stay up late for a midnight performance of P.T. Anderson’s Phantom Thread live score at the Theatre at Ace Hotel. Listen to Wordless Music Orchestra and the London Contemporary Orchestra, who recorded the score for P.T. Anderson’s film, as they provide accompaniment during a screening of Phantom Thread.
Saturday
If you’re up for a music fest, the two-day Air + Style kicks off at Exposition Park with sets from Zedd, Cashmere Cat, Cut, Dram and more alongside a massive snowboarding slope (Phoenix and Gucci Mane play on Sunday).
Immerse yourself in a massive gallery space filled with colorful light and shadow during the opening weekend of Olafur Eliasson: Reality Projector. Though advance tickets are sold out today for the free exhibition at the Marciano, a limited number of standby attendees will be allowed in.
Sample over 60 of California’s best IPAs (and vote for your favorite!) during the first day of the LA IPA Fest, a weekend-long tasting event at Mohawk Bend.
Grab margaritas, tacos and draft beers for only $3 each at Pez Cantina’s 3 Year Anniversary Party.

Consider a trip along the Orange County coastline for the second day of the Dana Point Festival of Whales. The celebration of California’s majestic gray whale migration includes two weekends of whale watching tours and free festivities.
Head to Smorgasburg where the Food Book Fair L.A. will be popping up with “Foodieodicals,” a retail outpost for new and vintage cookbooks, food mags and more.
Make your way to the Annenberg Space for Photography for the final day of “Cuba Is.” More than 100 photos fill this Century City museum to tell the tale of the island nation from before the revolution to its contemporary coming out.
