We curate an L.A. weekend itinerary of the city’s best concerts, culture and cuisine, every week, just for you.
Friday
Pose in front of Haunted Mansion stretching portraits, Enchanted Tiki Room birds and vintage ride vehicles at “That’s From Disneyland,” a pop-up exhibition in Sherman Oaks filled with memorabilia and props; it all goes up for auction on Saturday and Sunday.
Roll out a blanket and sip on pours of wine on the Hollyhock House’s front lawn during Friday Night Wine Tastings at Barnsdall Art Park.
Celebrate Downtown’s LGBTQ community at the DTLA Proud Festival, on its opening (and only free) night. Pershing Square will play host to local restaurant, retail and community booths alongside a music stage and a pop-up water park.
Head to the Theatre at Ace Hotel for a performance from the Punch Brothers. Prodigious mandolinist and Live From Here host Chris Thile leads this bluegrass ensemble.
Saturday
Sample bites from L.A.’s most esteemed chefs during the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, with a massive tasting event at Barker Hangar in the afternoon followed by a swanky street party outside of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in the evening.
Ride the tram up to the Getty and catch a free concert from Combo Chimbita during Off the 405.
Lace up your Muggle skates for the final edition Harry Potter Roller Skating Night, an annual Harry Potter-themed meet-up at Moonlight Rollerway.
Take your pick between a trio of after-hours parties: Spend a Saturday night dancing and listening to music all across the LACMA campus during Muse ’til Midnight. See a performance from Xiu Xiu at the Broad during Summer Happenings. Or bust a move at KCRW Summer Nights as this beloved live music and DJ series wraps its season in Chinatown Central Plaza.
Sunday
Indulge your inner foodie and shopaholic at Smorgasburg LA, which welcomes both a BBQ bash and a bunch of ice cream vendors on Sunday at ROW DTLA.
Scare yourself silly at ScareLA, a Halloween-in-August expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center with makeup workshops, pop-up haunts and more.
Explore a massive Chinatown gallery filled with works from Shepard Fairey, Retna, Guerrilla Girls, Invader, Takashi Murakami and more during the final day of Beyond the Streets (if you’re free on Saturday from 4 to 6pm you can snag a free T-shirt or poster).
Celebrate the legacy of L.A.’s late Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic during a Community Tribute to Jonathan Gold. Held on the steps of City Hall, the event features a discussion from L.A. chefs as well as behind-the-scenes clips from City of Gold.
Close out your weekend atop NeueHouse as Rooftop Cinema Club presents an alfresco screening of Top Gun.
