We curate an L.A. weekend itinerary of the city’s best concerts, culture and cuisine, every week, just for you.
Friday
Spend an evening outside the Natural History Museum during the last Summer Nights in the Garden of the season, with live music, garden-inspired cocktails, hands-on science projects, botanical tours and food trucks.
Sing along to a screening of Selena in Hollywood Forever Cemetery as part of the LGBT Center’s OUT Under the Stars outdoor film series. Show up early to the benefit event for a performance from the world’s first and only LGBTQ mariachi band, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles.
Take your pick between a pair of concerts: Chromeo brings its neon electro funk to the Hollywood Palladium while Portugal. The Man plays grandiose psych-pop at the Shrine Auditorium.
If you’re hungry post-midnight, trek out to Arcadia for 626 Night Market, a late-night Asian food market at Santa Anita Park.
Saturday
Delight in all things K-pop during KCON, with panels, signings and meet-and-greets and Korean superstars at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the day, plus a concert at the Staples Center at night.
Let the L.A. Phil transport you to a galaxy far, far away with a live score of the best Star Wars film during The Empire Strikes Back in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
Or bust a move for free as KCRW Summer Nights brings a set from Jim James to the radio station’s new Santa Monica headquarters.
Catch a late-night comedy set from Hasan Minhaj at the Theatre at Ace Hotel. The charming stand-up and Daily Show correspondent’s one-man show recounts his experiences coming to the U.S. as a first-generation Indian-American.
Sunday
Indulge your inner foodie and shopaholic at Smorgasburg LA, which welcomes pop-ups from eight ice cream vendors on Sunday at ROW DTLA.
Head to the other end of the Arts District for Angel City Brewery’s Avocado Fest, a free party ripe with Southern California’s green staple with avocado-flavored beer.
Up the street, celebrate Japanese culture with tea ceremonies and ikebana demos during the Nisei Week Japanese Festival at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center.
Close out your weekend with a pick between two concerts: See Death Cab for Cutie, ODESZA, CHVRCHES, Judah & the Lion and more hit the Queen Mary events park for ALT 98.7 Summer Camp. Or listen to Randy Newman play through four decades of albums at the Hollywood Bowl. We love it!
