Iconic rap star Snoop Dogg can officially add store owner to his long resume: The artist just celebrated the grand opening of S.W.E.D., his very first licensed weed store, at 5494 West Centinela Avenue in Los Angeles, just a few miles away from LAX.

In addition to the debut of S.W.E.D., an acronym for “smoke weed every day” (itself a lyric from his track with Dr. Dre, “The Next Episode”) Snoop Dogg launched a limited-edition cannabis collaboration that honors his late friend and collaborator 2Pac.

Here’s the quick back story on how we’ve ended up with 2Pac-branded weed: Back in 2022, Snoop Dogg took over Death Row Records and, a year later, launched Death Row Cannabis.

“He vowed to restore the label to its former glory, championing artists, hip-hop and cannabis culture,” reads a press release. “[2Pac and Snoop Dogg’s] connection is rooted in a shared history that goes beyond the label, with 2Pac famously handing Snoop his first blunt, a story Snoop recalled as he inducted 2Pac into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.”

“That first blunt sparked a friendship that ran deep,” Snoop said in an official statement. “We’ll always have his music, but this is another way I can bring what was meaningful to 2Pac to his fans.”

Fast-forward to today and Snoop has officially delivered on his promises with the launch of his new dispensary and collection, which includes the “Alien OG” strain.

Ironically, Snoop actually isn’t the first L.A. rapper to open a weed store in this space: Until recently, the storefront served as a location for Dr. Greenthumb’s, a line of stores from Cypress Hill’s B-Real.

S.W.E.D. is located at 5494 West Centinela Avenue. It’s open daily from 6am to 10pm.
