Mitski, Les Miz, Marvel, Beck and ’90s Disney top the Hollywood Bowl’s 2024 lineup

That’s in addition to sets from the Roots, T-Pain, Toto, Natalia Lafourcade and dozens more at the famous amphitheater.

With the procession of music festival lineup announcements largely out of the way, it’s time for one last tease of summertime music—and easily the most quintessentially L.A. of the bunch.

The Hollywood Bowl has jut announced its summer 2024 lineup, and it includes concerts from the likes of Beck, Laufey and Natalia Lafourcade (all of whim will be performing with the LA Phil), Mitski, Gary Clark Jr. and Toto, plus already announced anchor shows like the July 4th fireworks spectacular with Harry Connick Jr. (Boyz II Men will play the pyro-filled season closer) and the Roots Picnic, which includes the Roots, Queen Latifah and Common.

That’s all in addition to a handful of evenings that promise stacked lineups of special guests, including a Sammy Davis Jr. tribute, a Juneteenth celebration headlined by T-Pain, a season opener with Michael Bublé that marks the late Henry Mancini’s 100th birthday, a Herbie Hancock concert that reunites his Head Hunters collaborators and the annual two-day Jazz Festival, which includes Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper and Jodeci.

If you’re a Hollywood Bowl veteran, you already know the drill when it comes to ticketing: Subscriptions are available now, single shows will be posted in a couple of months. But for any first-timers, here’s how it works: You can currently buy subscriptions for entire series of tickets for groups of 10 or more. On March 19, “create your own” packages will go on sale, followed by individual show tickets on May 7 (if there’s one date to remember here, it’s this one). This all applies to the just-announced LA Phil-produced shows (which also boast a BYOB-friendly policy) as opposed to the already-on-sale lease events like Joni Mitchell, Netflix is a Joke Fest and Noah Kahan.

Back to the schedule, this summer’s cinema selections have largely moved away from single-film selections (aside from an LA Phil live score of Singin’ in the Rain) in favor of a handful of themed multi-film evenings. Conductor Sarah Hicks will lead the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in an assortment of Disney films from the ’80s and ’90s, with guest vocalists performing alongside clips from the films. And Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the LA Phil for the Marvel Studios Infinity Saga Concert Experience, which will incorporate works from the MCU’s first 23 films. Iconic composer John Williams will once again return for his yearly outing with the LA Phil, with David Newman sharing the conducting duties.

We could go on and on about the lineup: a tribute to lyricist Alain Boublil and composer Claude-Michel Schönberg that includes songs from Les Misérables and Miss Saigon; a performance by Ballet Folklórico de Mexico; an ABBA tribute show; an evening filled with opera stars; programs focused on George Gershwin and Sergei Rachmaninoff; and concerts from Jason Isbell, Chaka Khan, Mt. Joy, Trombone Shorty, Patti LaBelle, Vance Joy, India.Arie, the Gipsy Kings and Camilo.

You can find the full schedule of nearly 60 shows on the Hollywood Bowl’s website, but we’ve included a slightly more digestible list of some of our favorites below.
