We’ve lost count of all of L.A.’s live theater postponements, cancellations and venue changes over the past two years. So some positive news comes as a welcome change: a fresh slate of Broadway productions bound for Hollywood.
Jagged Little Pill, Six, Beetlejuice, Mean Girls and To Kill a Mockingbird are among the seven musicals and one drama topping the 2022–23 season at both the Pantages at Dolby Theatres.
For now, tickets are limited to season packages, which range from $352 to $1,256 for an eight-show series. In addition, season ticket holders will get the first shot at seats for The Lion King, which will arrive at the theater for a to-be-announced run in 2023. As for individual show tickets, expect those to go on sale at a later date.
Some of the upcoming season’s picks might sound fairly familiar: Mean Girls was initially announced for the 2020 season, and The Lion King for 2021, but both eventually fell off the lineup. And To Kill a Mockingbird was once scheduled for the Ahmanson Theatre, but the Aaron Sorkin-penned adaptation of the Harper Lee novel will now head to Hollywood, with actor Richard Thomas in the starring role.
