Angelenos, it’s about to get really hot around here, with “kiln-like temperatures”—some reaching over 110—forecasted to envelop the area starting tomorrow. In fact, the National Weather service, has issued an excessive heat warning that will be active from Wednesday at 11am to Friday at 8pm.

Though we’re used to slightly different degrees of heat throughout the region (the beach is almost always cooler than the L.A. Basin, which is not as hot as the San Fernando or San Gabriel Valleys), this particular weather pattern will likely affect the region as a whole: It will be very hot everywhere. Forecasts vary, but even the most conservative ones show coastal areas hitting the mid-to-upper-80s on Thursday, though a heat advisory has yet to be issued for the beaches.

The National Weather Service expects the temperature to reach 113 degrees in Woodland Hills on Thursday and 111 degrees on Friday. Outside of the Valley in more central regions of L.A., that number is closer to 97 degrees when looking at the Thursday forecast. To add to it all, we don’t have to remind you that the dryness and excessive heat will make the potential for wildfires a concern, so please, be extra careful out there.

If you can, we’d suggest trying to stay indoors during the afternoon as much as possible throughout the next few days; if you need some air-conditioned relief, keep this list of local cooling centers on your bookmarked pages.

“The homeless, elderly, children, and those with health issues are at the highest risk for heat illness,” the National Weather Service wrote on social media. “Daytime highs between 95 to 105 will become common away from the coast.”

Stay safe, Angelenos!
