There’s already a subway station about a mile away from the Hollywood Bowl, at Hollywood and Highland. But as any patron who’s taken that 20-minute uphill walk or shuttle ride knows, that’s not quite close enough. But that might change: Officials are considering building a new stop right across the street from it.

Metro is now seeking public comment about a potential plan to extend the K Line—which now runs from just north of LAX up to the E (Expo) Line—all the way to Hollywood. Earlier this week, the agency released a draft environmental impact report that outlines three possible routes

Each option would link the K Line to the D (Purple) Line on Wilshire Boulevard as well as the B (Red) Line at Hollywood and Highland; one alignment would go up La Brea Avenue, another up Fairfax Avenue and a third would veer west through the heart of West Hollywood. But regardless of the route, LAist reports that each proposal “could include a final stop at the Hollywood Bowl.” Yes, that’s us screaming of excitement.

The stop at the Bowl has two potential location options: Either on the west side of Highland Avenue, toward the front of Lot B; or across the street on the east side of Highland, near where the stairs for the pedestrian underpass meet the triangular Lot C.

Angelenos have until September 5 to make their voices heard. To do so, they have attend a public hearing or reach out by phone, email or snail mail.

Once officials take a look at everyone’s input, they will recommend a route to the Metro Board. The latter agency will then have to vote on how to move forward.

Earlier this year we reported on the Bowl’s decision to flip a pair of stacked lots into more transit-friendly spaces, which in the process eliminated some parking spots. Clearly, venue operators are looking for the best way to make the flow of people in and out of the Bowl a bit less complicated and much more efficient—here’s to hoping a possible new subway stop will help that happen.
