Forget cramming the entire family into the car for an evening of carols and claustrophobia—this year, you can take in the holiday lights in an open-air safari truck and with a glass of wine in hand. That’s because Malibu Wine Safaris—one of our favorite wine tastings in L.A.—just announced a new wine tour that’s full of holiday cheer and rosé. (And if your dad still wants to wear his tacky Christmas sweater, so be it.)
From the team that brought you a haunted Halloween wine tour comes Malibu Lights: Winter Nights, their new festive and liquid-based jaunt through Saddle Rock Ranch’s impressive acreage in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The usual Malibu Wine Safaris events involve rolling through Saddle Rock in daylight, stopping to sample wines and visit the private petting zoo, but during this new rendition you’ll be sipping your way to warm, fuzzy feelings with holiday-themed twinkling light installations at all three tasting stops. To make things even more merry and bright, tickets also include hot cocoa, holiday treats, a take-home wine tumbler and a few mysterious holiday surprises. (Fingers crossed it’s not coal, unless, maybe, it’s in the form of a charcoal face mask.)
The new tour, which launches November 22, will take you and your friends on a boozy, 90-minute faux sleigh ride through the Westside’s own version of a winter wonderland peppered with pours from the ranch’s own Saddlerock label. Each stop on the tour includes two wine samples, for a total of six wines on your trek.
Fortunately, Malibu Wine Safaris doesn’t keep tabs on whether you’ve been bad or good this year—you just need to snag a ticket to this 21-plus tour, which runs $75 per person. It’s much cheaper than launching an expedition to the North Pole, don’t you think?
Malibu Wine Safaris’ Malibu Lights: Winter Nights tours run November 22 through January 5. Tickets are on sale now.
