Angelenos already know you don’t have to be a New Yorker to appreciate a good deli sandwich, but one of our favorite fictional NYC residents is helping us land a free one next week.
From December 9 to 15, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel—Amazon Prime’s biting, charming series about a disgruntled 1950s housewife turned comedian—joins forces with Canter’s Deli to give away 50 sandwiches per day.
In advance of season two, which launches this Wednesday, the Emmy-winning show just reopened New York’s famed-but-shuttered Carnegie Deli for a pop-up that features 99-cent pastrami sandwiches and decor that harkens back to the series’s 1958 setting—but here in L.A., our Canter’s already looks the part and our sandwiches are entirely free.
Look for The Maisel—“a sandwich worth the schlep!”—made with pastrami, salami, slaw and special sauce on rye, which will be served at the Fairfax deli for a limited time. If you happen to get there near 11am during the giveaway’s seven-day run and you’re one of the first 50 people to order it, you can nab it for free.
That means you can save your pennies for bailing out your own disgruntled housewife-cum-comedian friends whenever they land themselves in the slammer.
Canter’s Deli is located at 419 N Fairfax Ave, and is giving away The Maisel sandwich from December 9 to 15.
Amazon altered its statement of running the promotion from December 9 to 16, and will instead run it through December 15; this story has been updated to reflect this.
