Byrds co-founders Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman, along with country music legend Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sweetheart of the Rodeo on July 24 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel. The musucians will perform songs from and stories behing the 1968 country rock album, which pioneered a new type of country rock music by adding steel guitar and sharp dress to songs by Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard and Gram Parsons. A mix of country, blugrass, folk, gospel and rock n roll, these songs are some of the most well-loved in the country, and it'll be a treat for any long-time fan to catch the first leg of this anniversary tour before it heads east.
