Summer in L.A. has seen a whole circuit of label-specific music fests in recent years: Mad Decent Block Party, Dirtybird Campout and Fool’s Gold Day Off, among them. Well, now they’re all sort of coming back… for a semi-family-friendly rave on Minecraft.
Yes, Rave Family Block Fest (formerly known as Electric Blockaloo until, as many of us only recently discovered, hate groups ruined that pun) will bring together a slew of familiar electronic labels from July 9 to 13 for a series of performances from over 850(!!) artists on 65-plus virtual stages in Minecraft. Performers include Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Paris Hilton, A-Trak, Above & Beyond, TOKiMONSTA, GRiZ and so many more (literally hundreds).
Between each stage, you’ll find blocky tributes to Dunder Mifflin and the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre as well as games, hidden prizes and virtual dance parties.
The event was previously scheduled for late June but had to be pushed back due to Minecraft server updates. 2020, people. 2020.
