Lyle Lovett (and His Large Band) can shuffle through American music genres with well-trained ease. Few of his contemporaries can switch from Count Basie swing to mournful gospel and then add a prison spiritual as if searching for bonus points. He shares the bill here with Emmylou Harris, the peerless American songbird who famously collaborated with Gram Parsons, and has worked across country and folk rock without sacrificing her credibility or creative persona.
