UPDATE: Flannel Nation Festival has been canceled “due to ongoing problems and logistical setbacks”; the fest may be scheduled for a later date. The news came after Everclear pulled out, citing a lack of “adequate means to provide the level of experience our fans expect and deserve,” as well as Filter and Candlebox. Our original write-up appears below.

Flannel Nation’s lineup goes all in on those ’90s bands that were sort of grunge, sort of pop and best known for meloncholy earworms: Everclear, Soul Asylum, Candlebox, Filter, Cracker, Fastball and Sponge—plus a special guest set from Sugar Ray.
The fest will hit the Port of L.A. at Brouwerij West (relocated from the southern end of the port) on August 13.
There’s a good chance you only know the bands atop the bill for their singles, and the lineup poster kind of nods to that: In an age of bands performing classic albums in full during festival sets, Flannel Nation’s poster instead calls out the individual songs that’ll make you go “oooh, that band.” Is that enough to fuel an entire festival? We’ll find out in August.
