Deadheads everywhere shed a tear when the wildly popular Fare Thee Well shows marked the final concert appearance of the “core four” Grateful Dead members (Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh). And now, this revival under the guise of Dead & Company is set to see its final tour after an eight-year run. The lineup replaced bassist Phil Lesh—who departed for his own project, Phil and Friends—with Allman Brothers bassist Oteil Burbridge. And instead of previous Jerry Garcia stand-in Trey Anastasio on axe, they added a newcomer that no one saw coming: bluesy singer-songwriter John Mayer.
