Brian Wilson may not have the rights to the Beach Boys name—a legal mess not worth wading into—but any pop music follower knows that Wilson is the Beach Boys. Alongside founding member Al Jardine and later addition Blondie Chaplin, Wilson will play through the landmark album Pet Sounds—including the sun-swept harmonies of “Wouldn't It Be Nice” and “God Only Knows”—for its 50th anniversary. As if we needed another reason to attend, the excellent M. Ward opens with a set of timeless, nostalgia-tinged folk.
