Time Out says

Visitors to the University of Southern California will find unparalleled convenience and comfort at this West Adams hotel, but travelers looking to explore Downtown L.A. and beyond can also appreciate the Radisson’s friendly service and clean, streamlined vibe.

Located steps from USC, Trojans and their loved ones have long crowded the halls of the stately 240-room Midtown Radisson. In addition to its proximity to the university, the hotel draws in visitor’s with its spacious rooms and ample amenities. The Radisson has all the predictable perks, including pillow-top luxury mattresses, flat-screen TVs and free wifi, as well as ample amenities for visitors who might be visiting for work and conferences. What makes the Radisson special for many travelers is that here, convenience is king: the business center is open 24-hours for late-night project tweaks; if you finish work and realize you left your toothbrush at home, the lobby-adjacent sundry shop is open day and night, too. There’s also a fitness center and three restaurants—nosh on sports bar snacks in the inspiring Trophy Lounge at McKay’s, pair New York thin crust pizza with a shuffleboard match at Rosso Oro’s, or linger over upscale gastropub fair at The Lab. Between meals, Trojans games and museum visits, make the most of central L.A.’s famously sunny weather with the Radisson’s outdoor pool, which is situated in an Italian-inspired stone plaza, or settle into the nearby whirlpool tub when the temperature drops.

Location: Situated between the University of Southern California and the freeway, the Radisson’s ‘hood isn’t exactly rife with boutique shopping and dining, but it’s close to a handful of student haunts—there’s plenty of coffee around—and a short drive from the bustle of downtown.

Nearby:

Natural History Museum: L.A.’s Natural History Museum appeals to kids and adults alike with a dazzling collection of bones, gems and stuffed animals, as well as a rotating calendar of concerts, exhibits and festivals.

JNJ Burger & Bar-b-que: For locals-approved brisket, burgers and sweet potato pecan pie, look no further than this laid-back West Adams spot. (Be sure to hit the ATM on your way over—it’s cash only, and you’ll probably want to order a few extra treats to go.)

Grand Central Market: A short drive into L.A.’s Downtown neighborhood lands you at this historic food hall, where you’ll find an international smorgasboard of eats in a casual setting. Linger over fresh oysters and a glass of bubbly at The Oyster Gourmet, then stop by G&B for an espresso and a salted caramel donut.

Philippe the Original: The best French Dip sandwich in Downtown L.A. is a hotly contested honor; tender meat, salty broth and prices that honor the stand’s 1908 opening date place us firmly on Team Philippe.

Good for: The Radisson is the obvious choice for families of USC students, but the hotel’s proximity to L.A.’s science museums and downtown’s many attractions make it a solid pick for sightseers of all stripes.

Amenities: Pool, hot tub, room service, free wifi, restaurant, bar, shop, gym, laundry service, Concierge

Time Out tip: It pays to be a Trojan. When you’re returning to your alma mater for the big game, homecoming, or just to check in on your old haunts, check online for deals—the Radisson offers special rates and extra perks, like wine and appetizers on the house, for alumni.
