Time Out says

The Four Points by Sheraton LAX checks all the airport hotel boxes and manages to provide a few additional perks, like a tropical-inspired pool deck and late night dining.

If you’re coming off a long flight or are smack in the middle of a hellish layover, you’re most likely looking for comfort over pizazz. The Four Points LAX steps up to the plate for weary travelers, offering tidy accommodations and efficient service in a surprisingly convivial space. In the lobby, the standard neutral palette of most airport hotels is elevated by bespoke details like a curio cabinet behind the front desk and playful 60s-inspired furniture accented with pops of blue, red and yellow. The rooms themselves are clean and unfussy, and provide practical amenities like free wifi and high pressure shower heads. Tourists looking to spend more than a few nights in the area might do well to book in the more active neighborhoods of Venice or Santa Monica—the neighborhood surrounding LAX is heavy in convenient-but- predictable chain restaurants—but overnight guests will still be pleased with the hotel’s recreational amenities. The Four Points pool, for example, is accented by royal blue cabanas, ample foliage and a fountain; more ambitious travelers are welcome to utilize the hotels’ fitness and business centers. Two dining options ensure you’re fed during your stay; if you’re stopping in on an overnight layover, the Sheraton’s restaurant accepts dinner orders until midnight so you don’t have to raid the vending machine.

Location: Staying at the Four Points means you couldn’t get closer to LAX without security clearance. While the neighborhood surrounding the airport isn’t known for its culture or nightlife, the sights of Venice, Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach are an Uber away.

Nearby:

Purple Orchid: This Main Street tiki bar has everything a dive bar should: neon signs, smoking locals and plenty of flair. Order an umbrella-accented mai tai, settle in among the bamboo accents and shrunken heads and wait for your flight in style.

Venice Beach Boardwalk: Head to the beach for prime people-watching among Venice’s famously bohemian crowd. Rent skates, grab a corndog or pick up souvenirs in this kitschy beachside marketplace that seems delightfully stuck in the early ‘90s.

Little Sister: This Southeast Asian-inspired Manhattan Beach haunt serves fusion food like chili lamb flatbread and fried scallops to an artsy surfer crowd in an industrial chic space.

Pacific Park: If you’re traveling with kids, take the short trip north and spend an afternoon at the Santa Monica Pier’s permanent carnival. The size and old-school paint jobs on most rides and games keep the atmosphere quaintly retro, and the restored 1920s wooden merry-go- round is both child- and parent-approved.

Good for: The Four Points is ideal for getting in a few zzz’s before or after a flight, and for visitors attending one of the hotel’s many on-site conferences.

Amenities: Pool, room service, airport shuttle service, free wifi, restaurant, bar, gym, laundry service, concierge

Time Out tip: In addition to getting you settled and recommending a spot for dinner, the Four Points’ front desk is happy to print out boarding passes and any other last-minute travel documents you might need.
