The LA Conservancy offers a wonderful time-machine trip by screening classic films in Downtown's grand old movie palaces throughout the month of June. Tonight's feature is the foreign language film El Gran Calavera. Translated into "The Great Madcap," this rarely screened film by acclaimed, surrealist Spanish director Luis Buñuel is a comedy of errors that offers a critique of Mexico's nouveau riche at the time. The night will be hosted by Oscar Arce, the director of the Luis Buñuel Film Institute. The fest's shows are known to sell out before the series opens, so get your tickets online ahead of time.
