Thursday
Get a head start on an otherwise quiet Christmas weekend at the LA County Holiday Celebration. This Dorothy Chandler Pavilion tradition squeezes more than 20 choirs, music ensembles and dance troupes into a free, three-hour holiday show (don't worry, you can come and go as you please if you can't sit that long).
If Christmas Eve isn't your thing, consider a stop at the Matzoball, a mostly-Jewish singles party in Hollywood, or Jokes for Jews, a belated Hanukkah celebration with a crew of stand-ups and a fine serving of nosh at Flappers.
Friday
If you're in town for Christmas and not too preoccupied with family, take the afternoon to lace up and go ice skating—most of our favorite outdoor rinks are open today—and then wind down in the evening with a joyride around the city's best Christmas lights.
Saturday
Beat the day-after-Christmas blues with an afternoon of horse racing during Opening Day at Santa Anita Park. Scrounge those holiday gift cards together to splurge on a Guest Chef Series ticket and you'll be treated to a pop-up from the Church Key.
Head across town and look out upon the twinkling lights of LA from Holidays at the Getty. Sip on complimentary apple cider at the festively decorated Getty Center while scoping out the museum's current exhibits, like the just-opened Woven Gold: Tapestries of Louis XIV.
Wrap up the evening at one of the final performances of The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Home Alone. Rockwell Table & Stage continues its performance series with a campy send-up of the '90s "isn't this kind of torture?" flick just in time for the film's 25th anniversary.
Sunday
Today's your last chance to relive your childhood theatergoing experiences as the LA Ballet presents its final performance of The Nutcracker this season. Take a trip with Uncle Drosselmeyer, Clara and her beloved Nutcracker for this ballet at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
Wrap up the long weekend at Church—no, not that one, we mean CHURCH: Stand-Up Comedy. Brent Sullivan, Sean O'Connor, Julian McCullough and Beth Stelling—one of our comedians to watch in 2016—host this weekly stand-up show at UCB Sunset.
