It looks like two of our favorite L.A. chefs are soaring to new heights. Literally. Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo just announced they are teaming up with Delta Air Lines to upgrade airplane food with dishes inspired by their local restaurants Animal, Son of a Gun and Jon & Vinny’s.

Shook and Dotolo’s new dishes will appear on in-flight menus this fall, just in time for the busy Thanksgiving and holiday travel season. The details are still under wraps, but they promise locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, with meals cooked in a new, dedicated facility and brought to Delta daily. The fare will be offered to customers travelling in Delta One business class on routes out of LAX, flying to New York’s JFK and Washington’s Reagan-National airports.

“Delta is really taking an innovative approach to on-board dining and we are proud to partner with them as they change the conversation around airplane food and elevate the customer experience in-flight,” Shook and Dotolo wrote in a press release about the partnership.

This partnership with Jon and Vinny for LAX-based flights will be similar to a program Delta already rolled out for New York flights featuring Danny Meyer (of Shake Shack fame) and his Union Square Hospitality Group.

In addition to the special dishes, Delta One customers can enjoy a new premium wine and whiskey program, eat off of Alessi-designed dinnerware and zone out under noise-cancelling LSTN headphones while relaxing on fold-flat beds while having their needs tended to by staff sporting custom Zac Posen uniforms and passing out airborne amentities from Tumi and Khiel’s. That all sounds like a nice way to jet-set across the country to us!
