Smorgasburg comes around but once a week, which leaves us with six other days to sit around dreaming of our favorite vendors’ dishes—until now. Thanks to a new pop-up stand at the Standard in Downtown L.A. we’ll be able to get a taste of Smorgasburg any day we choose. The poolside food station on the hotel’s rooftop will host one popular Smorgasburg vendor at a time, keeping daily hours of noon to 7pm.

For the first residency, Bahn Oui will be serving an expanded menu of casual French and Vietnamese fusion fare, including a sesame-panko fried chicken sandwich topped with pickled jalapeno, garlic puree and chicken liver paté, and its signature braised pork belly banh mi sandwich, which has already become kind of a big deal among Smorgasburg enthusiasts. In addition, the pop-up will offer new dishes not available at Smorgasburg, including shrimp toast with kewpie, sriracha, nước chấm and fresh herbs, and the Oui Burger, which adds nước chấm and paté to a classic Angus beef burger with caramelized onions and a special sauce.

Creating an opportunity to offer daily service makes sense as part of Smorgasburg’s mission of giving new chefs and food entrepreneurs the experience they need to springboard off and launch great new restaurants and brands. If you find yourself heading to the Standard for a pool party this summer, you might as well get a bite of a delicious new dish while you’re there.
