Wiz Khalifa is adding another line to his business card. Right after rapper, actor and cannabis industry entrepreneur, he can now add fashion designer—and he’s debuting his line with a special runway show in Los Angeles. The show, presented in collaboration with local fashion brands 424, Pleasures and Khalifa’s own company Taylor Gang, will be the keynote event at this year’s Made L.A.
Tickets to attend the show are open to the public and on sale currently, starting at $60. Should you spy something coming down the catwalk that you can’t live without adding to your own wardrobe, you’ll be able to shop pieces immediately after the show at a booth in Made L.A.’s vendor market where a high-tech 3D body scanner will take your measurements, which will be sent off to create your custom-tailored Wiz Khalifa original. The night will also include a live musical performance by Khalifa himself, along with other members of Taylor Gang.
Khalifa’s capsule will be brought to life in collaboration with his longtime stylist, Lauren Matos, a woman who has been credited by publications from Vogue to Fader with engineering a lot of the fashion style associated with the current generation of West Coast hip hop.
Choosing the Made L.A. fair for the line’s debut seems like a natural fit. Made L.A. launched last year with a show by Tyler, the Creator’s fashion project, Golf Wang, along with a show by Moschino. This year, Khalifa’s show on Saturday will follow a Friday night show of Opening Ceremony’s fall-winter collection.
In addition to the ticketed runway shows, the Shop Small marketplace will be open to the public for free on both Friday and Saturday, featuring displays from over 30 independent labels, food and drink vendors, DJs and live performances and other activations.
Made L.A. takes place June 9 and 10 on the events deck of LA Live. Opening Ceremony presents their show at 9pm on June 9, Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Gang present at 9pm on June 10. Tickets range from $60 to $90. The Shop Small market is open 2pm to 11pm on Friday and noon to 11pm on Saturday, with free admission.
