Here's something they don't tell you when you're moving to LA: WeHo has no accessible Metro lines. There's enough going on in West Hollywood that some people who live there probably never want to leave. But in case you have for, you know, work, you have a new option—and it's free!
The West Hollywood City Council approved a six-month pilot program for the CitylineX—a free mini-bus that will cart commuters to the Hollywood and Highland Metro stop on the Red Line.
The line is started its soft launch on January 4. To celebrate and promote the service, there will be booths set up along Santa Monica Boulevard during the week of January 11 with giveaways including mugs and umbrellas, as well as coffee and breakfast burritos. Finally, on Tuesday, January 19 at 5pm, they're hosting the official launch at the West Hollywood Library Auto Court.
The service will run from 7-9am and 5:30-7pm during the week, approximately 15-20 minutes apart. The route goes from the West Hollywood Library on Melrose and San Vicente to the Hollywood and Highland stop, making several pickups along the way.
Time will tell if the service is actually convenient, but WeHo also has the PickUp line, a bus that keeps drunk people from getting behind the wheel at night, which seems to work well.
