Halloween is almost here, and unless you aren't partaking in any celebrations, you probably either already have a costume picked out or are searching for one last minute. At the risk of dressing off-trend, any dedicated Angeleno knows how important it is to keep track of which costumes are new to the zeitgeist this year.

Enter Frightgeist, a site developed by Google News Lab that determines which costumes are going to be the most popular by analyzing Google data.

The results across the board are honestly pretty lame, but then again, this survey isn't about being creative. A lot of people are searching for Star Wars and Harley Quinn costumes. Pirate and Batman costumes are also popular choices.

One fun feature is the site's “unusually popular costume,” which it includes for each city. The pick for not only LA, but also Palm Springs, San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Francisco is Sarah Sanderson, otherwise known as Sarah Jessica Parker’s character from Hocus Pocus.

Using the site, you can navigate around the country to see which costumes are the most trending searches in each city. But we’ll save you some time and give you the lists that matter.
