When you’re a football team that’s booked two simultaneous reality shows before you’ve even played a game on your new home turf, you’re obviously trying pretty hard to court some celebrity caché. As if we needed more evidence, yesterday the Los Angeles Rams invited some of music’s biggest stars to casually swing by their training camp to hang out and toss a ball around.
FYF headliner Kendrick Lamar and his buddy ScHoolboy Q stopped by the UC Irvine facility where the Rams are gearing up for the coming season, as USA Today reports. The rappers posed for selfies with adoring fans assembled on the sidelines, signed autographs and palled around with players.
The team had tipped the public off to the guests’ appearance the previous day via a Snapchat tease so that a crowd would turn out, looking all the better for the Hard Knocks crew on hand to film the day for the HBO series.
Not that we would imply that Kendrick and ScHoolboy’s enthusiasm for the team was just for the camera. The “Blessed” duo seemed to be having a great time as they threw the pigskin around on the field. Kendrick showed off some wide receiver skills, stretching to make a great catch when ScHoolboy passed him the ball.
You can make your own judgment of the musicians’ field skills in the video below. We wouldn’t necessarily suggest they give up rapping to play pro football anytime soon, but we certainly won’t complain if we end up hearing a lot of their recordings on the in-stadium soundtrack at games.
Bet y'all didn't know @ScHoolBoyQ and @kendricklamar had skills 🏈 #MobSquad pic.twitter.com/olpGF3xtIz
