Know what L.A. needs more of? Donuts and fried chicken. Well, not entirely—we've had an influx of both in the past year or so, with gourmet donuts arriving by way of Portland (we're looking at you, Blue Star) and hot chicken coming at us via Tennessee (hi, Gus's!). But when it comes to these two food groups, there's no such thing as too much of a bad thing. So, welcome Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken. We've been waiting for you.

After three years of a successful run in Washington D.C. and Virginia, the comfort food shop (or hangover spot, depending on how you look at it) is landing in Downtown L.A. in early 2017, bringing crème brûlée donuts to 6th Street between Olive and Grand. Visitors will find a classic Astro menu featuring seasonal donuts, fried chicken options (sandwiches, bone-in, chicken fingers), donut sandwiches and locally-inspired options (please let there be a weed donut in the works).

While "early 2017" is the only opening date details we have, we do know there will be indoor and outdoor seating, and a show kitchen where you can watch the donuts and fried chicken being made.

And if you're looking for more donut options? Check out our list of the best donuts in town. It's okay, you can drool.
