You can stop begging your friends to pick you up from LAX, because ride hailing services like Uber and Lyft will finally be able to pick passengers up from LA's least favorite airport. The LA City Council approved the motion in a 9-6 vote on Tuesday, making LAX the largest airport in the country to allow such services.
Don't expect to be able to hail a ride just yet, though; Uber and Lyft still have to come to an agreement with the city to submit to its permitting process. Part of that process will require the California Public Utilities Commission to add fingerprinting to its driver background checks. In other words, your Uber driver can still be a creep but not a criminal.
