It took a couple of years for Danny Trejo's taqueria to open on La Brea, but in the year or so since, the Machete actor's shop has been quickly adapting itself to different concepts across town. Following Trejo's Tacos, there was the roving Trejo's Tacos truck and an expanded Trejo's Cantina in Hollywood, as well as an impending Trejo's Coffee & Donuts.
Now, the Trejo's Tacos culinary universe is expanding yet again with a second Trejo's Cantina location, this time in Pasadena. The restaurant will occupy what used to be RedWhite + Bluezz, right next door to the Pasadena Playhouse, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. The former jazz club has already shuttered, and the spokesperson for Trejo's says the Pasadena location should be coming sometime in June.
The Cantina concept isn't all that different from Trejo's Tacos; you can expect a bigger menu with more of a focus on large plates and a roomier dining area that accepts reservations. The biggest addition, though, is a full service bar, complete with a tap of Trejo's Cerveza (perhaps you're sensing a naming trend here) from Boomtown Brewery.
There's not much else we know about the soon-to-open restaurant, but you can bet that's Trejo's familiar mustachioed mug will make its way onto every possible surface of the spot.
