This Sunday, the California Vegetarian Food Festival offers herbivores a chance to graze on foods from a variety of vendors (without having to constantly ask, “Is there meat in this?”), take in talks from veg-minded experts and even get a peek at some modern food innovations.

The futuristic offerings will be based in the Innovation Pavilion, an area where science-minded types will show off the latest and greatest in vegan substitutes for eggs, dairy, meat and other animal products as well as other things at the intersection of environmentally-friendly and high-tech.

On the menu will be foods from more than 40 plant-based restaurants including Southern Fried Vegan, Taco Man Burrito Boy, Donut Farm, Matthew Kenney Culinary and Lulu’s Sorbetto. There will also be an assortment of vendors offering clothing, lifestyle products, spa treatments and more geared toward vegan shoppers.

Four stages will offer tracks of programming all day long. There will be talks on subjects from raising vegetarian kids to practicing meditation. On the Banana Stage, attendees will find eclectic musical performances from local artists. A culinary workshop area will offer live cooking demonstrations so you can reproduce some of the great vegan snacks of the day when you get home. The Kumquat Kids Area offers kid-friendly activities like storytelling and origami.

Sunday’s event will be the first Los Angeles outing for the organizers, U.S. Veg Corp, who have previously pulled together similar festivals in New York City and Arizona.

The California Vegetarian Food Festival takes place Sunday, Nov 13, from 10am to 5pm, at Raleigh Studios, 5300 Melrose Ave. Tickets are $30 for general admission or $50 for VIP, children 10 and younger are admitted for free.
