Our Golden State is gearing up for legal, non-prescribed cannabis sales, and entrepreneurs are seeing green. L.A.’s already home to a number of cannabis supper clubs and events open to those who hold a medical recommendation, but now there’s a new subscription box for epicures that arrives just in time for January 1, 2018, when anyone over the age of 21 can possess up to an ounce. (What a time to be alive.) Enthusiasts of weed, caffeine and home delivery, meet Vibe.

“It’s like a tasting of really great coffee roasters, chocolate makers and cannabis producers, so it’s a way to discover cool new products in all of those spaces,” says founder Hasan Luongo, whose new company will ship monthly subscription boxes throughout California. Each installment runs $69 and includes roughly $100 worth of gourmet chocolate, California-grown marijuana and 12 ounces of specialty coffee. Every month, subscribers will receive the equivalent of about an eighth of cannabis, whether it be in the form of a disposable vape pen, a pre-rolled joint, edibles or the buds themselves, and it will play nicely with its box-mates; Vibe studies the flavor notes of each strain, then pairs the month’s selection with two complementary chocolate bars and a bag of roasted coffee beans.

The new company is situated in Culver City, and fittingly, its first box is L.A.-themed. Look for a rose-gold disposable vape pen from L.A.-based Beboe—the luxury cannabis company the New York Times dubbed “the Hermés of marijuana”—to be paired with the Westside’s LetterPress Chocolate, which took home a medal at this year’s Good Food Awards, and Alhambra’s Take Flight Coffee, which was founded by a former lead Intelligentsia roaster.

While payments are reoccurring, memberships can be paused or cancelled at any time. Looking to try it ASAP? If you preorder the first box, which ships November 15, you’ll receive a $10 discount, but bear in mind that anyone placing orders for November and December boxes must supply a medical recommendation. Don’t have one? For January’s box and those going forward, all that’s necessary is proof that you’re over 21. Should a subscriber want to opt out of coffee, cannabis or chocolate, there’s also a modification to include only two out of the three items every month.

“These products are all from a specific origin, they reflect the tasting notes of where they came from, so we put it together,” says Luongo. “For each one, none of these products exist on their own. They’re like man and nature coming together: coffee is a fruit that grows on a tree, cacao is a large bean that grows on a tree and cannabis is like hemp—it isn’t in the form that it is [when ingested].”

Eventually the Vibe team would love to open a retail location, but for now, you can find the subscription service and its products online.
