We curate an L.A. weekend itinerary of the city's best concerts, culture and cuisine, every week, just for you.

Friday

Look on the bright side of life Friday night during a set from John Cleese and Eric Idle. The Monty Python members team up at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium for this part-scripted, part-improvised tour.

Make it an even later night at Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours. Watch as the cultural institution transforms into an interactive performance space during this ethereal edition with a curtain of snowfall, multimedia shadow performances and dancing in a black-lit Founders Room.

Alternatively, add some levity to your work week with a late-night screening of Blazing Saddles. The Nuart Theatre is showing the Mel Brooks classic, a Western parody carried by Cleavon Little as Sheriff Bart and Gene Wilder as Jim, the "Waco Kid."

Saturday

Trail a feminist procession of sculptures as the Hammer Museum hosts Lara Schnitger: Suffragette City. The walk kicks off at the museum at noon and, after parading works that explicitly address women’s rights, returns for a community gathering and concert at 2pm.

Get lost in the light and space sculptures of Venice's own Fred Eversley at the opening of Black, White, Gray. The inaugural exhibition at Art + Practice's new Leimert Park gallery space includes an achromatic array of Eversley's mirror-like, cast-resin sculptures.

Drink your way around L.A. Center Studios during the return of L.A. Beerfest. More than 200 breweries and food trucks will be on hand, with the likes of Boomtown Brewery, Absolution, Iron Triangle, Ohana Brewing Co., Golden Road, Bell's and plenty more.

Head into Hollywood for a performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Pantages Theatre. Rock out with Darren Criss in this rock 'n' roll odyssey of self-discovery.

Just down Hollywood Boulevard, catch a late screening of Piccadilly at the Egyptian Theatre. The 1929 silent film, featuring Hollywood's first Chinese-American star Anna May Wong, screens as part of AFI Fest with a live DJ accompaniment by Ms. 45s.

Sunday

Learn how to curl—as in the ice and broom-based sport—on Sunday morning at the Holiday Ice Rink Pershing Square. Afterward, skate around a warm-weather winter wonderland with the Downtown L.A. skyline as your backdrop at the opening weekend of this seasonal ice rink.

Stuff your afternoon with unlimited ramen, rice balls, sake and beer during the Japanese Food & Sake Festival. The delicious fest brings some of Japan's most delectable dishes to the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.

Explore Pasadena's unparalleled collection of American Craftsman homes during the Pasadena Heritage Craftsman Weekend. The weekend includes walking, bus, self-guided and drive-yourself tours, as well as an expo at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Respectfully celebrate those who have struggled with mental illness and adversity at the In This Together Festival. The comedy, podcast and music fest at Avalon Hollywood features The Mental Illness Happy Hour, Mortified, Beth Stelling, Deqn Sue, Kimya Dawson and Daniel Johnston.
